This is beautiful, but it's also where it started to get wierd in a prefab, organized religion sort of way. The Burning Man LLC decided it would be a good idea to proscribe dances and chants and miscellaneous demonstrations of "radical self expression" at certain times and places. It was really annoying.

Note: an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer featured Miss Calendar coming out as a "Technopagan," telling Giles: "I went to Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert - there were drum rituals and we all got naked and covered ourselves in mud!"
